The project was launched in South Africa in November 2015, when the project partners signed their contract in the presence of the Dutch Prime Minister, Mark Rutte.

Listen to Mlibo Bantwini, Director of the Agrizone at Dube Tradeport, describe why he wanted to realise a Waste Transformer at the site of Dube TradePort.

For this project, The Waste Transformers collaborated with the IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain and entered the Morgan Stanley 2016 Impact Investing competition. In the finals, held in Hong Kong, The Waste Transformers’ Fund for Entrepreneurs was chosen by Morgan Stanley as one of the top 3 global propositions for Impact Investing.
