Strategic alliance to drive UAE’s sustainability goals: The Waste Transformers and Living Business sign MOU

Netherlands – Dubai, UAE — The Waste Transformers and Living Business have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to spearhead efforts in addressing food waste and driving sustainability actions across the United Arab Emirates. This strategic alliance combines Living Business’s expertise in sustainability consulting and ESG frameworks with The Waste Transformers’ innovative anaerobic digestion technology to provide impactful, localized solutions to food waste management challenges in the region.

Addressing the food waste crisis with innovative solutions

Food waste remains a significant challenge in the UAE, contributing to environmental degradation, resource wastage, and greenhouse gas emissions. Recognizing this critical issue, Living Business and The Waste Transformers aim to tackle the problem at its source by implementing small-to-medium-scale anaerobic digesters across businesses, municipalities, and institutions.

The Waste Transformers’ containerized biodigesters convert food waste into valuable byproducts such as clean energy and liquid natural fertilizers, aligning seamlessly with the UAE’s vision for a circular economy. These biodigesters enable clients to transform their food waste into clean energy on-site, providing a solution to divert food waste from landfills and reduce fossil fuels usage while contributing to food security and sustainability.

“Food waste is both an environmental challenge and an opportunity for impactful change,” said Keith Bradley, Managing Partner of Living Business. “With the right solutions and inspiring green leaders, we can transform food waste into a resource, aligning with the UAE’s vision for a sustainable future.”

Joint goals: Accelerating the UAE’s circular economy

The MOU establishes a strategic partnership to jointly develop and promote urban anaerobic digester projects throughout the UAE. The alliance is set to benefit businesses across various sectors, including hospitality, food and beverage, and municipal services, by providing them with practical solutions to reduce their environmental footprint.

Key objectives of the partnership include:

  • Deploying Waste Transformer biodigesters at client sites to process food waste locally.
  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions by diverting food waste from landfills and converting it into clean energy and natural fertilizer.
  • Promoting resource efficiency by producing natural fertilizers that replace chemical alternatives.
  • Strengthening local food security by closing the loop between food waste and agriculture.

This initiative supports the UAE’s national goals, including the UAE Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative and the commitment to fostering sustainable development across industries.

Accelerating sustainability across sectors

With this alliance, Living Business and The Waste Transformers aim to set a benchmark for international collaborations in environmental stewardship. By integrating innovative Waste Transformers with strategic ESG frameworks, the partnership will deliver measurable environmental, social, and economic benefits for businesses and communities alike.
